DCST Takes a Bite out of the Sharks

        DCST improved to 4 – 1 on the season by defeating the visiting Leaning Tower (Niles) Sharks by a score of 603 – 241.  As a team, DCST swam extremely well with 185 career best times out of a total of 326 swims for a 57% improvement rate.  DCST had an impressive 32 swims in which a swimmer swam a new event legally for the first time.  DCST also had 21 swims which achieved the District Qualifying and 5 swim which achieved the State Qualifying time for the first time. 

            Sixty swimmers had a great meet with at least two career best times. These swimmers were:  Molly Allison, Emma Bafia, David Beaty, Owen Bockman, Miles Bound, Maxwell Buck, Sadie Burton, Cody Carlson, Sara Collins, Danny Cork, Sophia Cork, Quinn Cynor, Bella De La Cruz, Adia Dean, Riley Doyle, Mason Dukes, Grace Flemming, Ella Follman, Adam Goelitz, Brayden Goff, Adrianne Hall, Rose Hanus, Georgia Harrelson, Sean Harrelson, Megan Hastings, Jenae Heegaard, Emma Heinisch, Mimi Heinisch, Stephen Heinisch, Abbie Johnson, Grace Johnson, Nick Johnson, Grace Kozlowski, Savion Mack, Josephine McMahon, Michaela McMahon, Grace Mielke, Emily Mildner, Trey Morrison, Nate Newlin, Ali Ohlinger, Aiden Page, Lucy Prais-Lewis, Emily Raetzke, Hannah Raetzke, Edith Reynolds, David Ruetten, Benjamin Russell, Alex Schlueter, Alexander Skrzypek, Jordan Spears, Isiss Stuckey, Alex Taylor, Zoe Tikkun, Calvin VanderSchee, Jared VanderSchee, Elizabeth White, Ritta Wi, Riley Wiegartz and Ava Wilkins.

            After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Adia Dean, age 7, and Hagen Stewart, age 9, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.
