DCST Splits at Sage Tri-Meet

DCST Splits at Sage Tri-Meet

        DCST is now 5 – 2 on the season after finishing behind Sage and ahead of Joliet at a tri meet hosted by Sage on February 6.  As a team, DCST swam okay with 81 career best times out of a total of 188 swims for an 43% improvement rate.  DCST had 7 swims in which a swimmer swam a new event legally for the first time.  DCST also had 2 swims which achieved the District Qualifying and 4 swim which achieved the State Qualifying time for the first time. 

            Twenty-three swimmers had a great meet with at least two career best times. These swimmers were:  David Beaty, Cumorah Bound, Miles Bound, Danny Cork, Sophia Cork, Quinn Cynor, Jack Farrell, Kate Farrell, Serena Goelitz, Matteo Graham, Donny Gramer, Evan Harrelson, Gregory Harrelson, Noah Johnson, Ava Karolewicz, Grace Kozlowski, Savion Mack, Isabella Martinez, Hannah Raetzke, Alex Skrzypek, Brendan Sullivan, Andrew Tatum, and Ian Wickens-Walther.

            After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Ava Karolewicz, age 9, and Miles Bound, age 8, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.
