Chena Meet Recap

Chena Invitational Meet Recap

Congratulations to the 21 swimmers who participated in the Chena Invitational Meet January 30-31! For many of our Discover swimmers it was their first fully officiated swim meet so it was a big experience with two sessions and more events. There were a number of disqualifications which is normal for a meet with young swimmers, we need to continue to work on the little things like two hand touches in fly and breaststroke, pushing off and staying on your back in backstroke, staying symmetrical in fly/breaststroke and backstroke turns. Those are all habits that every swimmer needs to learn and disqualifications help teach the correct skills.

We had a number of great swims throughout the meet Tyler Winsborrow can now compete at LMR Meets thanks to breaking four minutes (3:58.89!) in the 200m Individual Medley! Sidney Clement broke a team record in the 100m Freestyle and qualified for AAA Provincial Championships in her 50m Breaststroke! Curtis Woods swam to his first AA time standard in the 100m Freestyle! Quincy Bender raced to another AA time standard in the 50m Butterfly.

Many Discover swimmers swam in new events and we were very close to 100% best times at the meet without the disqualifications. A great experience for our young swimmers! Swimmers not qualified for LMR Meets will race again on February 28th at our own Development Meet.
