SVY Finishes 1st at 13/Over NJ YMCA States!
After four days of hard fought racing and exciting moments at Lancaster, our SVY 13/Over Team finished 1st overall at the 13/Over NJ YMCA State meet!  It was an all-out battle between the top teams in the state right from the start, below is the final score:
1. Somerset Valley YMCA - 1868 points
2. Red Bank YMCA - 1814.5 points
3. Lakeland Hills YMCA - 1303 points
A big difference maker in the weekend was our distance team.  Our 13/Over distance swimmers scored a combined 571 points in the 500, 1000, and 1650 Freestyle events, highlighted by a 1st/2nd/3rd/5th/7th place finish in the 15-18 Girls 500 Free, and a 1st/2nd/5th/7th/9th/12th/15th place finish in the 15-18 Boys 1650 Free.  Over 30% of our total points scored in the meet came from these three events.

After combining the scores of the 13/Over and 12/Under state meets, SVY finished 2nd in the 2016 Overall, Girls, and Boys NJ State title!  SVY scored over 500 more points in the total team score than last year, and finished with our highest point total as a team since 2013.  SVY had some spectacular moments at the 12/Under meet as well, with our 11-12 program scoring their most points in the age group since 2011, and highlighted by our 11-12 Boys 200 FR Relay breaking the NJ Swimming record!

Below are the age group overall top-2 finishes for our program:

15-18 Girls - 1st place
15-18 Boys - 2nd place
13-14 Girls - 2nd place
11-12 Boys - 1st place
11-12 Girls - 2nd place
Congratulations to our entire program on another impressive showing at both State meets, and across all of our championship meets so far this season.  Next up for the program, our 12/Unders will be in action at JO's this weekend, and our YMCA National Team prepares for another exciting meet in April to officially conclude our 2015-16 SC season.  GO SVY!
