2016 JO CHAMPIONSHIPS | Recap

Congratulations Manta Rays for your 6th Place Team Finish at the Junior Olympics.

Congratulations to Carl Bloebaum who finished in a tie for the 11-12 Boys Individual High Point Award. Carl had six first place finishes and one second place finish over the course of the weekend.

Carl Bloebaum set 4 new team records in the 50 backstroke (26.68), 50 butterfly (26.08), 100 butterfly (56.80) and the 200 butterfly (2:06.16).  The 200 butterfly also established a JO meet record in the debut of this event for 11-12 boys.  Also breaking a team record, Jessey Li broke 11-12 girls 50 breaststroke (31.65).  Reese Lugbill broke the 13-14 girls 100 breaststroke team record (1:05.96) and the 200 breaststroke (2:24.71).  The 13-14 boys broke 4 team relay records as follows – 800 freestyle relay (7:20:58) Karson Walker, Scott Shepherd, Ian Van Gorp, and Adam Chaney - 400 freestyle relay (3:20.85) Adam Chaney, Lonnie Chien, Aki Li, and Karson Walker – 200 medley relay (1:43.85) Scott Shepherd, Ian Van Gorp, Lonnie Chien, and Adam Chaney – 400 medley relay (3:46.19) Scott Shepherd, Ian Van Gorp, Lonnie Chien, and Karson Walker.

These swimmers finished in the top 8 individually:

Taylor Bacher 9-10 girls, 200 freestyle (5)

Carl Bloebaum 11-12 boys, 100 freestyle (1), 500 freestyle (1), 100 butterfly (1), 200 butterfly (1), 50 backstroke (1), 100 backstroke (1), 50 butterfly (2)

Adam Chaney 13-14 boys, 50 freestyle (2), 100 backstroke (6)

Jessey Li 11-12 girls, 50 breaststroke (3), 100 breaststroke (8)

Reese Lugbill 13-14 girls, 200 breaststroke (6), 100 breaststroke (7)

Scott Shepherd 13-14 boys, 200 backstroke (5), 100 backstroke (7)

Leanna Wall 13-14 girls, 1650 freestyle (5)

Michael Zuo 9-10 boys, 100 butterfly (5)
