DCST Looks Good in Winning Quad Meet

DCST Looks Good in Winning Quad Meet

After looking good for their team pictures on Saturday, DCST’s swimmers also looked very good in the pool.  As a team, DCST had 153 lifetime best individual swims out of 292 swims, a 52% improvement rate.  These time improvements were also good for 11 new District and 1 new Area qualifying times.

DCST had 37 swimmers who had a perfect day by achieving a lifetime best time in all of their individual events.  These swimmers were:  Adriana Aumann Weyenberg, Kendra Aumann Weyenberg, Paige Bjork, Justin Buck, Maxwell Buck, Bobby DeConinck, Josh DeDina, Alyssa Ferrigan, Nathan Flaherty, Bailey Flaherty, Madisyn Grever, Kaitlin Jacobson, Levi Johnson, Logan Johnson, Grace Kozlowski, Brianna Kramer, Justin Lee, Katrina LeMieux, Jonathan Liu, Riley Lohse, Julia Luo, Kyle Miller, Kylie Olson, Dylan Powers, Josie Rivera, David Ruetten, Paul Ruetten, Riley Shortridge, Alex Siksna, Garret Sims, Grace Stiberth, Amal Tatum, Andrew Tatum, Chloe Wester, Allison Yohanan, Danielle Zographos and Zachary Zographos.

After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Julia Luo, age 8, and Jonathan Liu, age 10, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.

The win moved DCST to 9 – 0 on the season.  DCST’s next meet on Saturday, January 16 will be a real threat to DCST’s undefeated season.  Swimming at Leaning Tower will be DCST’s toughest test of the season.  Last year at the IL / MO Area Championship Meet, Leaning Tower finished 4th in the combined scoring, 5th in the girls scoring, and 2nd in the boys scoring, while DCST finished 2nd, 1st and 3rd respectively.
