LC AAA Champs Review

Swim BC Long Course AAA Championships Review

Our team raced to incredible results at the Long Course AAA Championships this past weekend!

Aidan Smith led the way with two bronze medal finishes in the boys 12-13 50m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle. Aidan also raced to 6th place finishes in the 50m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke as well as 8th place finishes in the 200m Backstroke and 200m Freestyle. Most importantly Aidan is now fully qualified for Canadian Age Group Championships! He went into the meet with the qualifying time in the 100m Freestyle and he raced to four more time standards in the 50m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke, 400m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke! Aidan also set new 13-14 year old team records in the 50m and 100m Freestyle and all three Backstroke events!

Sophie Smith raced to her third Canadian Age Group Championships time standard in the 50m Breaststroke, fully qualifying her for the meet! Sophie raced to 7th place finishes in both the 50m Breaststroke and 200m Breaststroke events.

Morgan Bender had an incredible meet racing to a time of 1:02.37 in the 100m Freestyle which was her first qualifying time for Canadian Age Group Championships and qualified her for Canadian Western Championships for next season! Morgan swam to team records in all five freestyle events (50m, 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m events)! She has qualified in all the freestyle events as a 12 year old for this years Canadian Age Group Championships but turns 13 a week before the meet starts so it is very impressive that she is so close to qualifying in her new age group!

Sidney Clement had an incredible 400m Individual Medley racing to a time of 6:10.95 which set her first club record in the 11-12 year old age group! She also raced in her first final at AAA Championships finishing 8th in the 200m Breaststroke!

Durban Ball had big time drops in both the 100m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke events, taking off 3-4 seconds in each. It was his first AAA Championships and he moved up in the rankings in all of his events.

Quincy Bender had a very strong meet and qualifying for AAA Championships three weekends ago. Quincy had great 50m and 200m Freestyle races continuing to drop time after strong performances at AA Champs. She still has two more AAA Championships in the age group to move into finals.

It was a great meet for our team and many coaches mentioned how strong our swimmers looked! As our young team gets more experience we will continue to be a bigger force provincially!
