JUNIOR OLYMPIC MEET RECAP: GREAT MEET, RAYS

 Ohio JO Recap 2016

The Mason Manta Rays had a lot of amazing performances at the 2016 Ohio Swimming Age Group Junior Olympic Championships (JO’s).  The team amassed 1,626.5 points to finish 5th, with 141 best times.   Leading the way for the Rays were Carson Foster and Carl Bloebaum.  Carson was named Male Outstanding Swimmer of the meet.  Carson broke 4 JO meet records, winning 6 events, and also won the 13-14 boys high point award.  Carl was 7 for 7 winning all of his individual events.  He broke 3 JO meet records and won the 11-12 boys high point award.  Adam Chaney won the 13-14 boys 50 freestyle event.

Megan Schoenlein – 200 free (5), 200 IM (3), 50 breast (3), 100 breast (4)

Taylor Bacher – 200 free (6), 50 fly (3), 100 fly (3)

Eli Devyak – 200 back (7), 50 back (4), 100 back (4)

Reese Lugbill – 100 breast (6), 400 IM (6), 200 IM (7), 200 breast (5)

MJ Neilson – 50 breast (7), 100 breast (5)

Oliver Gao – 50 breast (5), 100 breast (6)

Ashley Lugbill – 200 back (7), 200 breast (7)

All of these swimmers have qualified for the Central Mega Zone Championships being held at IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Congratulations and good luck to all the Manta Rays attending. 

The 11-12 boys broke all 4 relay team records.  The boys in these relays included Max Christensen, Logan Ottke, Sahan Kansakar, Eli Devyak, and Carl Bloebaum.  The 13-14 boys broke all 5 relay team records.  The boys on these record settling relays were Seth Butler, Alex Zhang, Ian Van Gorp, Adam Chaney and Carson Foster.
