Speedo Winter Junior National Championships East

 December 7-10, 2016

The Mason Manta Rays were well represented at the Winter Junior Nationals East at Ohio State University.  The women finished 7th overall, the men finished 13th.  Combined the Rays claimed a 10 top spot producing a 9th place finish overall.  Finalist at the meet included Allison Bloebaum 8th in the 1650 freestyle (new team record), 17th 200 freestyle, and 12th 500 freestyle.  Cora Dupree 16th 100th freestyle and 18th 200 freestyle.  Hannah Foster 8th 200 freestyle, 11th 200 IM, and 18th 100 freestyle.  Allison, Cora, Hannah and Ashley Volpenhein had top finishes of 5th in the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay (new team record).  The 800 freestyle relay finish 7th and broke the state and team record.  The 200 medley relay swam to a 9th place finish.

Leading the men were the Foster brothers.  Carson was 2nd in the 400 IM, 5th 200 IM, 10th 200 backstroke, and 19th in the 100 backstroke.  Older brother Jake was 2nd in the 200 breaststroke, 6th 100 breaststroke, 6th 200 IM, and 13th 500 freestyle.  Tim Hagemeister had solid swims for the Rays.
