The Pleasanton Seahawks sent five qualified swimmers to the AT&T Winter National Championships held in Atlanta, Georgia last month (Nov. 30-Dec. 3, 2016). Christopher Jhong, 16, led the Seahawks earning 22 team points with an 8th place finish in the 400 yd. IM, 10th in the 200 yd. IM, and 13th in 200 yd. Fly. Jhong swam personal bests in all three of his races. Miranda Heckman, 15, was the top Seahawk female with an 8th place finish in the 500 yd. Free, 14th in the 200 yd. Free and 16th in the 1650 yd. Free, earning 15 points for the team.
Also swimming for the Seahawks was Daniella Hawkins, 15, who dropped over 14 seconds in her 1650 yd. Free to take 13th place. Hawkins also swam the 200/500 yd. Free events. Lyon Zhang, 17, swam a best time in the 100 yd. Breaststroke. He also swam the 200 yd. Breast and 200 yd. IM. The youngest Seahawk representative at age 14, Lleyton Plattel, swam the 500 yd. Free and the 1650 yd. Free, swimming a personal best in his 500 yd. Free.
The Seahawks successfully placed 15th at Winter Nationals.
