Five DCST High School Boy Swimmers Qualify for IHSA State Championships
Ten DCST swimmers represented their high schools last weekend at the IHSA Sectional meets, and five of these swimmers qualified for the IHSA State Championships. Listed below is a summary of their performances.
DeKalb / Sycamore Co-op (Marc Dubrick, Michael Gordon, Kei Ishimaru, Cory Page, Taylor Roose, Sam Seneczko, and Chad Thompson) – The DeKalb / Sycamore Co-op finished 6th at the St. Charles sectional meet. Chad Thompson, Michael Gordon, Kei Ishimaru and Cory Page qualified for the IHSA State meet in both the 200 yard Medley and 400 yard Freestyle relays. In individual events, Gordon qualified in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM; Thompson qualified in the 200 IM and 100 yard backstroke; and Ishimaru qualified in the 100 yard butterfly.
Maple Park - Kaneland (Grant Alef and Shane Fergus) – Kaneland does not have an official high school team, so Alef and Fergus have been training with DCST this season. Grant qualified for the IHSA state meet in both of his individual events (500 yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke). Shane had personal best times in both of his events (50 yard free and 100 yard backstroke).
Hampshire (Josh DeDina) – Just like Kaneland, Hampshire does not have an official high school team, and Josh has been training with DCST this year. Josh had an outstanding meet with lifetime best times in both of his individual events (50 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke).
