Marin Pirates Win Lost Dutchman

 

The Marin Pirates Swim Team finished in first place in the 18th Annual Lost Dutchman Invitational held in Chandler , Arizona Feb. 13-15. The Pirates scored 666 points to narrowly defeat the Phoenix Swim Club by 7.5 points. Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics finished third with 634 points. Over 60 teams from the Western United States attended the meet.
 
 
 

The team was lead by Kenneth Castro Abrams who swam in the 13-14 boys division. Kenneth won 7 events: 50 yard back (:25.71), 100 yard back (:55.63), 200 yard back (1:58.37), 100 yard fly (:53.99), 200 yard free (1:48.01) and 400 yard IM (4:21.94). Kenneth scored 77 points overall to take the first place hi-point trophy for 13-14 boys.
 
 
 

Also leading the way was 11-12 girl Annika Mellen who won 4 events: 50 yard back (:29.36), 100 yard back (1:03.48), 200 yard back (2:15.8) and 50 fly (:27.86). Annika took the third place hi-point trophy in the 11-12 girls division with 48 points scored.

Three Pirate relays took first place in the meet, one in meet record time:

Senior girls 200 yard free relay ( Kimmie Kreuzberger , Kathryn Murphy , Laura Slater , Sabrina Cochrane) in a meet record time of 1:39.76
 
 
 

Senior boys 200 medley relay (Shintaro Noguchi, Thomas Mercurio, Richard Davison, Scott Staskus ) 1:39.35

Shintaro Noguchi took the second place hi-point trophy in the senior boys division with 38 points scored while recording 7 top 8 finishes.
