Callie Nettles, a life guard and swim instructor at the Central Aquatic Center and a senior at North Cobb High School, started swimming in the Cobb County Summer Swim League at the age of six for the Parkwood Commons swim club. She enjoyed the sport so much she began swimming year-round with the Tidal Wave two years later and currently swims with the Stingrays. During her time with the Stingrays she has attained six junior national swim time cuts and two short course national swim time cuts. She also swims for North Cobb High School, making the all-county team 3 years in a row, as well as holding four school swim time records while being named team captain for her senior year. A typical week day for Callie consists of practice at 5:45am, school at 8:00am, life guarding at 12:30pm, teaching swim lessons at 1:15pm, followed by another swim practice at 4:00pm. Her typical weekend consists of an early swim practice at 7:00am on Saturday morning followed by life guarding or getting ready for a swim meet. Callie has maintained all of this extra-curricular activity while keeping a 4.2 G.P.A., earning her Academic All-American honors as well as a scholarship to the University of Alabama for swimming and academics. Congratulations to Callie for making Cobb proud!
