This past weekend our High School swimmers had some great performances at NCS (North Coast Sectionals- one of the fastest High School Sectionals in the Country) and the post NCS walk on meet in Santa Clara. Every single LAC swimmer had at least one best time swim or best time relay split. Here are some highlights:
Granada Men's 200 Medley Relay of Matthew, Paige, Dante and Jared placed 3rd at NCS and are ranked 8th going into the California State Champs
Jacqueline Arnold got best times in 200IM (consols) and 100 breast (finals) and has qualified for state in the 100 breast. She got best times in the 200 breast and 50 free at the walk on meet
Matthew Hayes got a best time in 200IM (finals) and made state in the 100 back (consuls). His lead off split in the 50 back for Granada's 200MR was his best by .5 seconds. He got best times in the 100m fly and 50m free at the walk on meet
Paige da Costa made finals in the 200 IM, consuls in the 100 back, and made state in the 100 back. He got a best time in the 100m breast and 100m back at the walk on meet. His breast split in the Granada MR was his best by 1 second and his 100 free split in the 400 FR was his best as well.
Jared Tovera made finals in the 100 breast and consuls in the 200 IM, dropping 2 seconds in the 100 breast and making a new Futures cut. He got best times at the walk on meet in the 50y free and 50m free at the walk on meet.
Dante Demayo had a lifetime best split in the 50 fly for Granada's 200MR, helping to propel them to a 3rd place finish. He also had outstanding swims in the 100fly (10th) and 200IM (17th), while fighting a virus.
Katie Ottman moved up from 40th to 26th in the 50 free going 24.9. She also got best times at the walk on meet in the 100 fr y, 100 fr m, and 100 fl y
Parker Anderson got best times at the walk on meet in the 200m breast with a new FW time, and the 100 m breast
Melinda Davis got a best time at the walk on meet in the 100 y breast and the 200 m back
Kaela Lee got new best times at the walk on meet in the 100m fly and the 50 m free. She dropped 3 seconds in the 100 m fly. Kaela was a crucial member of Foothills relays, splitting a 54.4 on the 400FR.
Chenoa Bodero dropped 5 seconds in the 200 y fly at the walk on meet and dropped 2 seconds in the 100m fly .
Jacob Nixon got best times in the 100y fr, 100y fly, 100m free and 50m free at the walk on meet
Hadi Zaied got best times at the walk on meet in the 100y back, 200y back, and 200y IM, dropping 10 seconds in the 200 back and 7 in the 200 IM.
Congratulations swimmers on your hard work and dedicaiton over the season which helped prepare you to reach these levels of success. We are looking forward to seeing some awesome swims this weekend at the California State Championships in Clovis. Go LAC!!!
