LMR Champs June Review

Seven swimmers raced this past weekend in Langley at the LMR Championships.  All seven of our girls who raced were 11 and under.  The meet started out with a bang in the 200 free, a notoriously difficult race as it is not technically a sprint, nor a distance event.  Tessa swam in an earlier heat and took 34 seconds off her previous best!  Amazing!  Brooke and Alayna swam next and both dropped 13 seconds!  Emily also shaved 3 seconds off of her best time.  Our swimmers are making huge breakthroughs in challenging events at championship meets which shows great maturity for such young athletes.

Congratulations go out to Meghan who had a massive breakthrough in her 200 backstroke, Meghan took nearly seven seconds off her previous best time in an event with seven tricky backstroke turns.  Awesome!  Another honourable mention goes out to Sarah and Atria who competed in their first Championship meet!  Sarah raced well in all her swims and even placed 9th overall in her 50 back!  Excellent!

Alayna, Meghan and Emily, three of our veteran LMR swimmers swam to some great results and cracked the top ten in at least one race.  Emily placed 4th overall in her 50 Free with a spectacular time of 35.8.  Way to go!

Summer Training begins next week – June 26th. We are hoping that as many swimmers from Dream and Achieve as possible keep swimming and compete at the Surrey Summer Invitational July 22-23!
