Ukiah Dolphins - New Head Coach!

Greetings Dolphin Families.

As many of you know Charlie Barrett, our Head Coach, is resigning. He is going back to school and wants to focus on his own swimming career. As a parent, I support his decision 100%! I can't thank Charlie enough for stepping up with such poise and professionalism when our team really needed it. Charlie's commitment and passion for swimming is a true gift. His desire to help Ukiah Dolphin swimmers become better, stronger,  faster has been fun to watch. Please extend your well wishes to Charlie when you see him. Charlie is anxious to move on to his next chapter however, he has been gracious enough to see us through the transition to a new Head Coach.

We are pleased to announce that Mike Hoppe (sounds like hoppy) as our new Ukiah Dolphins Swim Head Coach.    Coach Mike is an ASCA (American Swim Coaches Association) Level 4 Swim Coach and a Silver Level U.S. Water Polo Coach, and has been coaching swimming and water polo for more than 25 years. He has coached U.S. National Age Group Record Holders, Age group relays ranked 1st in the USA, Junior National and Senior National qualifiers, NCS (North Coast Section of CIF) Individual, Relay and Team Champions, High School & Jr. College "All Americans," and Pan American Game's qualifiers and finalists. Other Highlights include being Head Coach of the U.S. Virgin Islands National Team in 1999 Pan American Games, Voted 2013 Sierra Nevada LSC "Age Group Coach of the Year" by his fellow coaches and inducted into the Sonoma High School Hall of Fame in 2016.

Coach Mike and his family are relocating from Washington State. We hope to have him   on deck no later than August 15th. His biggest challenge is finding a place to live. If anyone knows of a 3 bedroom rental please let Mike know.

I am so excited that Coach Mike is joining our team. As you can see he has a wealth of experience. Coach Mike is determined to help Ukiah Dolphins become a powerhouse swim team!

Thank you all for your continued support.
