This past weekend was busy for LAC with JOs Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and the Fireballs meet (several of our LAC swimmers particpate on Fireballs in the summer) happening on Saturday.
At the Fireballs meet we continued to improve greatly facing a strong San Ramon club at home. We lost by a narrow margin without some of our strongest swimmers, so we are excited to face them again at Championships in two weeks. Great swims were turned in by Kylie C., William A., Elliott K., Bailey R., Bo F. and Roxy F. We had several people dropping in the double digits. Keep up the good work Fireballs!
At JOs, our swimmers had their strongest performance to date, with several event wins, team records, finals swims, and a multitude of best times.
Our girls 11-12 200 Free Relay placed 2nd over all (there are 113 teams in Pacific Swimming), finishing behind a Santa Clara team that has 1500 swimmers to draw from. They also scored points in the 400 Free Relay. We had some great splits turned in by Kayla, Sophia, Kendall, Saige, Ashlynn, Sutton, Jessie, Sarah, Taber, Ryan, Maggie and Cheryl.
Maddie G. won the 200 fly and the 800 free breaking several team records and finaled in several events
Natalie U. finaled in the 50, 100, and 200 free getting best times and moving up on the top 5 list
Maggie R. finaled in the 100 free breaking the team record
Bryson finaled in the 100 and 200 back with best times
Alex S. was top 8 in the 800 and 1500 free
Jack H. was top 8 in the 800 free, 400 free, and made a great recovery from being sick to have some outstanding races
Ryan M. and Lily moved up, had big time drops and made it into the alternate position
Abby H. made a new FW in the 400 IM
Annelyse, Olivia, Saige, Jessie, Jacques, Cheryl, Nichole and Tyler all got best times or best relay split times at the meet.
Thank you to all swimmers and parents who came to the meet for relays. Being a relay only swimmer is a stepping stone to being an individual swimmer at JOs. Now that you have participated in the meet, you will have a better understanding of what it will take to get you there individually and you can bring that motivation back to practice. We are proud of you!
We are looking forward to having a great end of our season now. Coming up are San Ramon, LA Invit, Far Westerns, and Futures. Use these JO performances as a way to launch into even better swims at your next meet! Thank you Coaches Lisa and Theresa for coaching a great meet!
