PWSL 2017 Divisionals Week Results

Well Divisionals are over with a bang this year. With weather concerns hovering as early as Thursday causing concerns on the ability to run the meets. We had a couple meets with a late start being the worst we had to deal with. The swimmers did not seem to mind the weather concerns as we ended up with 5 individual PWSL League records broken by 7 people this week. In the Girls 11-12 50 Meter Freestyle Camille Spink of Piedmont set a new record of 28.23 however, she was just out touched by Sudley's Jamie Cornwell with a better league record time of 27.94. Sam Pomajevich of Sudley improved his record from last season to 23.47 in the Boys 15-18 50 Meter Freestyle. Savannah Nash of Dominion Valley set a new league record in the Girls 15-18 50 Meter Freestyle with a new time of 27.27. Camille Spink had another great race in the girls 11-12 50 backstroke with Delaney Palenscar of Sudley setting a league record of 32.76. However, Camille was able to just edge out the win to set the league record going forward to 32.74. Wow what a race that had to be! William Cumberland of Braemar was our finial record breaker for the individual events in the boys 15-18 50 Meter Backstroke setting a new time of 26.26. We also had 3 relay records set by yet again 4 teams.Sudley's Steven Butler, Noah Klipp, Brian Harnish and Sam Pomajevich started the day off with a record swim of 1:38.28 in the Boys 15-18 200 Meter Freestyle relay. Dominion Valley set the Girls 13-14 200 Meter Medley relay consisting of Andrea Rhee, Carissa Kochan, Tess Peny and Chase Miller with a final time of 2:10.70. The next record broken for the day was the last events at two different pools for the Girls 13-14 200 Meter Freesystle relay. First Kingsbrooke swimmers Kaylee Benson, Paris Thornburg, Josie Helpard, and Abigail Daniel set a record time of 1:58.58. However at the blue divisional meet Braemar was busy setting their record time of 1:58.34 with Kayla Hosseini, Kerris Watson, Emily Haugen, and Samantha Kissi. We had an impressive 90 team records broken this weekend as well. Congrations to all the swimmers, record breakers or not as we also had a 40% increase in times faster.

On the team front Sudley completed the season as the only undefeated team this year. The two closes wins for this week were Bridlewood edging Dominion Valley by 52 poimts and Southbridge just falling short to Stonewall by 70 points. Can only imaging the excitement at those pools during the final relays.

As always after the divisional meet the Computer Reps got together to see what would happen if the 4464 swimmers who had legal times in the county got together for one swim meet. Overall the top 24 times were very close this year. We had lots of ties and even one for 24th place that was a three way tie. (this cause a little grief for us as one rep came up short on ribbon counts, thank you to the teams that helped figure out the issue to insure each swimmer received the ribbons they deserved). Looking forward to many more seasons with the closeness of the times and the improvements of all of the PWSL swimmers as a whole.

Please see the updated  summary sheet for an overview of all the meets. The Top 25 individual times and   Top 15 Relays of the week are also available. This week's cyber meet, league record file and the Excel version of the summary report as well as the End of season reports are  available to the computer reps on this site; while interactive results are available at

Hoping everyone has a very good off season and see you next year on the deck.
