Summer Nationals 2017 Like We’re Totally Awesome (80’s theme)
The small but mighty summer national team has had 4 days of fun in Greensboro, NC. We are missing our other national teammates who were unable to make the trip.
Daryl started us out today with his 400 freestyle. He was seeded 41st and outswam his opponents to finish in 37th place. He went out fast with a 1:00.72 for the first 100. He didn’t let up and he achieved a new personal best time.
Sarah raced her 50 fly and moved up from 101st seed to 79th place. She swam an aggressive race and dropped for a new personal best time. Aside from this great swim, she was very fun to hang out with for the day. She kept the boys in line and entertained us all with her accent attempts.
Nathan was in rare form when he entered the water for his 50 fly. He had a fast start off the blocks and tied for 24th place. With A, B, and C finals, Nathan had to do a swim-off to determine if he made finals. And he was victorious! Nathan earned the 24th spot in finals, dropping even more time. We returned to the pool in the evening to watch Nathan swim and he placed 24th overall. What a great way to end his time at Summer Nationals 2017.
Daryl closed out the prelim session swimming his 50 freestyle. He earned his time as a split from the 200 freestyle relay that the boys swam at state. He was seeded 91st with that time. He put everything into his race and dropped more time and earned 52nd place. What a great day of swimming for Daryl.
Collin swam the time trial for the 400 IM today. He dropped time at the state meet for his entry time and dropped even more time in this swim. He was seeded 14th and finished in 8th place. When we reviewed his splits, we saw that he negatively split his back stroke, breast stroke, and his freestyle. Great way to race, Collin!
