ADAM CHANEY SELECTED FOR USA SWIMMING NATIONAL SELECT CAMP
Every year, USA Swimming brings sixty of the top USA Swimming member athletes in the nation for a once-in-a-lifetime camp experience. The top thirty male and female athletes are selected for the camp. The camp is designed to introduce USA’s elite 18 & younger swimmers to the national team staff, the Olympic Training Center, and each other. Over a third of the swimmers in attendance will go on to represent the USA at international meets including the Olympic Games. The camp will take place in Colorado Springs October 26-29.
Adam Chaney, 15, was selected based off his 50m Freeperformance this past summer. Adam is a long time member of the City of Mason's Manta Ray program.
During the camp, Adam will learn about post-race recovery, drug and supplement rules, psychological training skills, nutrition, race strategy and more. Adam will make new friends, hear inspiring talks from Olympians Dana Kirk & Brendan Hansen and learn what it meant to be a part of TEAM USA.
USA Swimming also invites the coach of each of the swimmers to the camp; therefore, the Manta Rays will send a Manta Ray coach to attend as well. There was a separate educational track for all of the coaches while the USA National team coaches work with the athletes. Topics for coaches include mental skills; race analysis; biomechanical tools for the coach; introduction to video analysis; testing programs for physiology; nutrition; drug testing responsibilities.
