December 5, 2017
Don’t the days before Taper Meets always seem so long? I feel like a kid in the backseat of a car constantly asking my parents, “are we there yet?”. I know. We will be at our rest meets soon enough. While we wait, I wanted to share of our upcoming camp opportunities. More information on the schedule changes for the break will be forthcoming soon.
This winter, we will offer two (2) camp options. The first will be a High Performance Camp for our Gold through Senior training groups. The camp will meet Tuesdays through Fridays for two (2) weeks beginning Tuesday, December 26th. We are expanding the camp session times so we can offer the swimmers even more opportunities for training and growth.
HIGH PERFORMANCE CAMP
The High Performance Camp will meet from 6:45am to 3:00pm. Having eight (8) plus hours each day will give us plenty of time to work on the techniques they will need to reach their second half of the season goals. Classroom sessions, videotape analysis, multiple in water sessions (long and short course) as well as sessions geared for functional fitness will be some of the daily offerings.
The High Performance Camp is a great way to kick off the second half of the short course season. In order to have as many swim families take part in this offering, we are making it as affordable as possible. The per week price is $95 for the first child, $75 for the second and free for each additional sibling. Better yet, the price for the two week session package is $145 for the first child, $125 for the second and free for each additional child.
AGE GROUP INSTRUCTIONAL CAMP
The second camp is the Age Group Instructional Camp. This camp is geared for swimmers in our Blue through Silver training groups. The camp meets for two (2) weeks beginning on the 25th of December, like our High Performance Camp. We offer programming from 8:00am to 2:00pm. As a convenience to the siblings of swimmers in the High Performance Camp are allowed to come with their older brothers or sisters and relax until it is their time to enter the water.
We will focus more on instruction and technique with these swimmers. That said, we will up their training yardage and get them prepared for the next stages of their swimming career. The pricing structure is the same as the High Performance Camp to make the multi-family discount work. If aftercare is needed, please let us know. We may be able to work out an arrangement with the BSAC Camp so working parents do not have to worry about their children over the break.
Obviously, we could charge at least the published amount of money per day to swimmers for a winter swim camp over the break in Florida on the open market. When our upgrades and renovations are complete we will offer that open for visiting swimmers. We will alway try to make the camps affordable to our valued team members. For me, it is not about the money, it is about giving our swimmers the best possible experience so they can meet or exceed their goals..but we do incur additional expenses to make the camps a reality. I have been running camps for decades and know the importance they have on the development of the swimmers. I hope you take advantage of this opportunity.
Of course, families in the all inclusive plan do not have to pay any additional fees to participate in any of our camps or clinics. If you are not familiar with this program, send me an email CoachRichRogers@MyBSAC.org for more information.
I leave for Knoxville in the wee hours of the morning. I will keep you all updated with the CAT info as I receive it. Look for more updates soon. Here’s to a great weekend of swimming!
See you at the pool - Rich
