Good Afternoon, Reno Aquatic Club –
As you all know, the pool situation in Reno is very poor. Sierra Nevada Community Aquatics, a local non-profit, has been working hard over the last 8-years to raise funds to build an aquatic facility on the old Moana Pool site. A lot of the effort in the last two years has been working behind the scenes with potential donors and the City of Reno.
They have some great news! They have identified a potential donor who is willing to donate a majority of the construction cost for a new pool, but the donor would like the City of Reno to help fund the annual operation cost of the facility. This partnership is a win-win for aquatic users and the City of Reno. As a community, we would acquire a new, and much needed, facility and the City of Reno would not be tasked with raising the funds to construct the facility.
This Wednesday, the City Council is going to be presented with this partnership option.
SNCA would like your help in providing positive constructive comments reminding the Council Members that new aquatics centers are desperately needed in the Truckee Meadows and that there is a high level of support for a new Moana Pool.
