Langley Tier I & II Invitational

We had a very good training meet this past weekend in Langley with 13 Hollyburn Hurricanes racing at the one day Langley Tier I & II Invitational. The meet was a great chance to get off the blocks and see what needs to be focused on in the final few weeks of training as our swimmers prepare for the Prairie Winter Invitational in Winnipeg March 1-4, Tier I Provincial Championships in Penticton March 9-11 and SwimBC Senior Open Championships at UBC March 16-18.

We had many outstanding performances through the meet. Cami had an amazing 200m Backstroke, finishing the race with a time of 2:26.80, well under her SwimBC Senior Open time standard and three seconds under her best time. Emily was our only swimmer with 100% best times and she added three new Tier I time standards in the 100m Butterfly, 100m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle. With the hardest event list on our team, Sidney had big drops in her 400m Freestyle, 200m Butterfly and 400m IM setting club records in both the 200m Butterfly and 400m IM. Quincy set new club records in both her 50m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly. Josh had a great 200m IM and 400m Freestyle taking off time in both events. Keala’s 400m Freestyle was a big 22 second improvement and showed great racing with best times in her 100m Breaststroke and 100m Freestyle. Lucas broke 5:20 in his 400m IM and was just .02 off of best times in all of his events. Meghan raced to a new Tier I time standard in the 100m Breaststroke. Sophie took off three big seconds in her 200m IM. Morgan had a very impressive 400m Freestyle where she took the lead and built on it throughout the entire race. Jade swam just over her best times in all four of her events. Jessica raced to a best in her 100m Butterfly. Tyler also had a very strong 100m Butterfly with a best time.
