Prairie Winter Meet Review

This was our first time attending the Prairie Winter Invitational in Winnipeg and it offered exactly what we were looking for with a lot of swims and great results! The meet gave our swimmers the chance to get second swims in multiple events, race long course meters, improve their travel meet performance and swim in one of the fastest pools in the country! Our swimmers got to practice swimming multiple events in heats and finals and did a tremendous job of racing long course during short course season!

Quincy had a very impressive meet qualifying for Canadian Junior Championships in the 800m Freestyle with a time of 9:33.66 and the 200m Freestyle with a 2:09.58. Quincy set six club records and raced to new Western standards in the 200m Butterfly and 400m Individual Medley.
Jessie raced to best times in seven of her events at the meet and three club records. Jessie added both the 100m Butterfly and 400m Individual Medley to her full Westerns race schedule.
Morgan broke 40 seconds for the first time in her 50m Breaststroke and had incredible speed in her 200m Freestyle.
Cami raced to her first Western time in the 50m Backstroke! She just missed adding the 100m Backstroke by .02 and will have another chance next weekend at Senior Open. Cami also had great races in the 200m Individual Medley and 200m Backstroke.
Avery was very strong in her breaststroke events, showing a lot of speed in her 200m Breaststroke when she raced out to her best time at the 100m mark and held on for a second place. Avery also raced to her best time in the 100m Breaststroke.
Laura had a lot of speed in her 50m races, setting a best time in her 50m Butterfly.
Kourosh was top 8 in all of his events with 100% best times at the meet! Kourosh raced to three new Tier II times and finished with a bronze medal in a very exciting 200m Freestyle final.
Josh swam to best times in all but one of his events, including a new team record in the 1500m Freestyle! He ended the meet getting a chance to race in finals as the second alternate in 100m Freestyle, you always have to be ready if your name is in the heat sheets and Josh improved on his morning swim!
Lucas had great long course racing throughout the meet, setting best times in all but one of his events. Lucas broke a minute in the 100m Freestyle for the first time long course and made finals in seven of his events.

A great meet for our team, we had a lot of fun with the other teams from BC and our friends from the Cayman Islands! Thanks to Rose and Nickole for all of their help through the meet!
