Fifty-six top USA Swimming athletes from the Western zone invited to camp

Novato, CA – Zachary McIntyre of Novato was chosen as one of 56 swimmers for the USA Swimming’s Western Zone Select Camp set for May 31-June 3 at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona.

“We are extremely proud to have Zachary McIntyre representing the Marin Pirates at the Western Zone Select Camp,” said Warren Lager, Marin Pirates Head Coach. “This honor reflects the hard work he’s put into training this year and is the first step toward his life-long dream of swimming at the 2020 Olympic Trials.”

During the four-day camp, McIntyre will participate in five long course workouts and will have the opportunity to learn from professionals about post-race recovery, psychological training skills, nutrition and race strategy.

McIntyre is one of 56 top USA Swimming athletes in the Western Zone – 28 male and 28 female – selected for the camp. Swimmers are selected from the SWIMS database of top times during the 2017 qualifying period, where the fastest athlete in each event, ranging from age 12 to 13 for girls and 13 to 14 for boys are invited to the camp.
