The Langley Long Course Invitational was our first long course meet of the season. For our young swimmers it was a great way to see how much their swimming has improved since they competed long course last season. The older swimmers had a great opportunity to race and see what they need to focus on for the next few weeks when we head into more long course competitions in May.
Sidney set three new club records, in the 100m Butterfly, 200m Butterfly and 400m Individual Medley! Sidney’s time of 5:36.73 in the 400m Individual Medley was under the Canadian Western Championships time standard for 13 year olds! She is not eligible to compete at the meet yet but is well on pace to have multiple events next year when she is old enough.
Our current 13 year old Western qualifier, Jessica, added her 9th event with a new time standard in the 200m Individual Medley! Jessica also lowered her club record in the event.
Tessa had a great swim in the 200m Breaststroke, swimming under her first SwimBC Tier I Provincial standard!
Addy swam in her first ever long course meet and did a great job also racing her first 200m Backstroke!
There were a lot of big drops at the meet with swimmers racing
events for the first time in awhile. Here are a few of the
biggest:
Meghan raced to best times in all of her events including a 26
second improvement in her 200m IM, 25 seconds in the 200m
Freestyle, 12 seconds in the 100m Breaststroke and 9 seconds in the
100m Free!
Emily improved by 28 seconds in the 200m Freestyle and 17 seconds
in the 100m Backstroke, she raced to best times in all of her
events!
Tessa swam to a best time by 23 seconds in the 200m Freestyle, 18
seconds in her 200m IM, 11 seconds in both her 100m Breaststroke
and 100m Freestyle, with drops in all of her swims!
Keala took off 18 seconds in her 200m IM, 12 seconds in her 100m

improvements in all of her events!
