Folsom Meet Recap
RENO had an outstanding meet at the Sierra Marlins Spring Splash in Folsom, CA! The weather was perfect and it was a great start to the long course season. Coach Emma and myself were very happy with the 28 swimmers who attended the meet from RENO!
Swimmers in the Pre-Senior and Orange group achieved 86 best times out of 95 swims. Remarkable! Way to go, swimmers! And way to go, Melanie, Susan, and Emma for helping these swimmers produce huge improvements.
The Senior swimmers just completed their hardest week of training of 2018. Despite the tough training, some Senior swimmers still achieved best times. Every Senior swimmer did race very well in the middle of the intense training. This will pay dividends when championship season comes in August.
Thank you to all the parents for traveling to the meet and volunteering to time. A big thanks to John Aramini for organizing the team dinner on Saturday night, Scott McLean for setting up the RENO tent, Teri Galvin for helping with the awards. and D’Lisa Crain for being our required stroke and turn official.
RENO Walk-On Meet
RENO will be hosting a one-day meet on Sunday, May 13 at the University of Nevada. This meet will be for high school swimmers. It is the day after Northern Nevada High School Regionals, so it will allow swimmers an opportunity to race non-high school events while they are rested. The meet is open to non-club swimmers. It will give them a good opportunity to experience a USA Swimming meet and hopefully encourage them to join a USA Swimming club post high school season.
Click here to register. The plan is to keep the meet small, so we will be capping it at 100 swimmers. Please sign-up soon.
The Annual RENO Gamble Swim Meet will take place June 22 – 24 at Idlewild Pool. I will be sending more info about this meet in future updates, but online registration opened today. Click here to register.
RENO Summer Program
Registration for our summer program is now open. This is a great opportunity for children to become more water safe and for those who may be interested in participating in competitive swimmer. Click here to register.
