PRIDE DAY
Thursday, June 28th (All
Groups, 5-7pm)
Today,Thursday, June 28th
is Shark Pride Day. On this day all groups
will be swimming together
from 5:00-7:00pm. We want to encourage
team unity by having the entire swim team practice
together. Everyone will be warming up together working on
skills together and playing games together. We will do fun
games and relays at the end. Show off
your Shark spirit! Wear your turquoise team shirt
to school and around town on this day. We will give all
swimmers a team tattoo that are wearing their team shirt on this
day. This will be a team building day with a great
opportunity to get to know swimmers in other
groups.

VJO Parents! Our Guest Speaker has been re-scheduled.
On Monday, July 2nd from
6:00-6:45pm we will be having guest
speaker Scott Shea coming out from USA
Swimming to talk to all of our VJO parents. Scott
Shea will be talking to all of our VJO parents new
and veteran about “swimming long term” and how to be
the best swim parent you can be. He will also have lots of time to
answer all your questions.

SCOTT SHEA: Prior to USA
Swimming, Shea served as a coach for
23-plus years and most recently served as the head coach for the
Sierra Marlins Swim Team in Folsom, California. Other career
highlights include serving as a USA Swimming National Junior Team
Coach in three separate years throughout his career, as well as
being named the 2004 Senior Coach of the Year by Pacific
Swimming.

be bringing out USA Swimming Guest Speaker Scott Shea to talk to
our swimmers about Leadership, Culture,
and Team work. This is an amazing opportunity for our
swimmers to learn from one of the best. All of our Junior, Junior 2
and Senior Group swimmers need to attend practice this day.
Bring your suits, we will get in for a short swim after the guest
speaker.

TEAM PICTURE DAY – Tuesday, July
10th 2018
Tuesday, July 10th is Team Picture Day.
The
Individual pictures will start at 5:00pm and the team picture will
be at 5:45pm. We will be taking our team picture in our turquoise
VJO team T-Shirts. If you do not have a team shirt or need a new
shirt please see Miriam Rivera on the pool deck anyday. T-Shirts
are $12.

FLAPJACK FUNDRAISER –
July 14ht 8-10am
Invite your friends and family! VJO
will be having a Applebee’s
Flapjack Fundraiser on Saturday, July 14th from
8am-10am. This is a great opportunity to have breakfast with family
and friends and raise money for our swimmers. 50% of the
proceeds go back to our swimmers. Our VJO swimmers will even be
your servers, greeters and bussers. Please feel free to tip your
waiters and waitresses.

SWIM-A-THON
UPDATE

Great job everyone at the Shark-A-Thon.
We really appreciate everyone who helped out. Our
current fundraising is $5037 we are halfway to our goal with a
month to go to turn in money. Sarah Melanephy will
updating the online info soon to show the offline our fundraising
lane line online.

Ukiah
Dolphins C/B/A SCY Meet
July
20-22 2018
Get your
sleeping bags and marshmallows ready! On July 20-22 VJO will
be attending the Ukiah Dolphins C/B/A+ SCY Meet and will be camping
at the Bushay Recreation Area Campgrounds at Lake
Mendocino. The price is $25-$30 per night with a maximum of 8
people plus 2 vehicles per campsite. Total of $50-$60 per
campsite for 2 nights stay (Friday July 20th &
Saturday July 21th).Campsites could accommodate 2
families. If we have 2 families per campsite we can split
the cost. Bathrooms and showers are close by. Campsites
were mostly shade, however the October Wildfires could have change
the amount of shade we have this year. This is the only Campgrounds
open this year at Lake Mendocino, due to the October Wildfires.
This campground will fill very very quickly. Get your campsite
today.

Reserve your Campsite:
Families interested
in camping during the Ukiah Swim Meet, please make your own
reservations. All the team reserved campsites have been taken by
our families (B72, B74, B77,
B78, B79, B80, B81, B82, B83,
B84). To make your own reservation call 1-877
444-6777 or go to http://www.recreation.gov/. Choose Bushay
Recreation Area Campground. We would like to keep our families
close together, so kids are not walking through other
people’s campsites.

SUMMER PRE-TEAM SWIM PROGRAM 2018 (May
1st –Oct
30th 2018)
Vallejo Aquatics
is excited to offer the Summer Pre-Team Swim Program; designed for
beginner level swimmers wanting to join and be part of the swim
team. Our Pre-Team Program will start May 1st. This program is the
perfect way to learn to swim and get swim team ready. Our
professional coach staff will teach you to:
- Swim a length of the pool (25 yards) freestyle using side breathing
- Swim and length of the pool (25 yards) backstroke without stopping
- Learn the basics of breaststroke
- Learn the basics of butterfly
- Learn a front somersault
- Learn a head first dive
Requirements: Must
be able to swim a length of the pool (25 yards) and be comfortable
in the deep end.
Schedule: 6:00-6:45pm
Monday-Thursday
Fees: $80
per month & $45 Pacific Swimming Summer Registration Fee
(onetime fee, good for entire summer)

The Ukiah Short
Course C/B/A+ Meet on July 20-22 is NOW OPEN
for ENTRIES. We will be camping as a team at the
Bushay Recreational Area Campgrounds (different campgrounds from
last year). This will be a very fun meet with lots of fun
events (25 Free for all ages), fun relays and a fun time camping
together.

OLYMPIC CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2018 Summer
Long Course Junior Olympic Championships Meet on July
6-8th is CLOSED for entries. The meet
will be help at Independence High School in San Jose. This is a
qualifying meet, all swimmers must have achieved the JO time
standard to enter this meet.
