At Canadian Junior Championships we were represented by Quincy, Avery and Jessica, all three girls were attending their second Canadian Juniors meet and improved on their performances from their first time on a national stage. It was a tough meet with only 10-15% of swimmers in each event racing to best times and our girls stepped up with great performances throughout the six day meet.
Jessica raced to 8th place in the 100m Breaststroke, she finished just off her best time with a 1:16.41 but moved up in the standings to get to walk out with the A final and improved from her morning swim in finals! Jessica was just off her best in the 200m Breaststroke, narrowly missing the B final. She raced to a best time in the 50m Freestyle and swam her first ever open water swim to finish the meet!
Quincy raced to 13th in the 50m Freestyle, her first year in a very tough 15-17 age category! She also raced to her best time in the 800m Freestyle finishing with a 9:32.79! Quincy set 15&over team records in the 50m, 100m, 200m and 800m Freestyle events in her first meet in the age group! She also finished the meet with the 3km open water, finishing under her pace for her best 2km open water swim!
Avery was strong in the breaststroke events in her first meet of the summer after a break. Avery also raced to a best time in her 50m Freestyle!
It was a great experience for our team as we continue to improve our performance at a national level. We will be aiming to improve on these results next season as we continue to raise our goals and expectations. Everyone will now have time off and we will be back in September to begin training again!
