Molly Lahlum Memorial Autumn Freeze – September 14 – 16
Thank you to all the families who registered for this weekend’s meet in Minden. There are 57 RENO swimmers signed up. That’s the highest number of swimmers we have had at a meet since I have started. Way to go!
With the hectic summer meet schedule, it’s been roughly three months since I have seen the majority of RENO swimmers participate in a meet. I am looking forward to seeing improvements in each swimmer. It should be a weekend full of best times and new Nevada state cuts.
Please remember this is an outdoor meet. The forecast is calling for a drop of temperatures. The mornings will be chilly but it should be comfortable later in the day. Please plan accordingly.
There will be normal practice on Friday evening for those not participating in the meet. There will be NO Saturday practice.
Later this week, I will send out more information about the meet.
It is important that each swimmer has the proper equipment at every practice. Our online SwimOutlet store has the equipment required for each group. Please click here to access the store.
I know throughout the years, swimmers acquire a mishmash of equipment. If your child does not have the exact equipment that is currently listed in the SwimOutlet store, please have them check with their coach to see if the equipment they have is sufficient.
One piece of equipment that I would like to be an exact match from SwimOutlet would be the paddles. In my opinion, there are several paddles that are poorly designed and cause unnecessary stress on the shoulder which could lead to injury.
The coaches would like the swimmers to be using Strokemaker paddles. These paddles do a great job of building strength but not putting unnecessary pressure on the shoulder. This style of paddle has different sizes based on age and ability level. If you have any questions, please let me know.
In addition to having the proper equipment for each practice, it is very important that your swimmer has a water bottle too. Please be sure your child brings one each day.
