King of the Hill Volunteers

Hello Amazing Reno Aquatic Club Families!

We are in the home stretch for our team-hosted King of the Hill Meet and I wanted to send out one last update and one last appeal for volunteers.  We have exactly 500 swimmers registered for the meet which is 150 more than last year and the highest number I can find that we have ever had! 

Let’s start with donations…thank you to everyone who has signed up to donate items for hospitality and the snack bar…every item that is donated is an item that the club does not need to purchase and contributes to making our fundraiser a profitable one so I appreciate your generosity immensely!  If you have not had an opportunity to sign up, there are still a few items that are needed so please take a look and donate if you can.  Please bring your items with you to the pool on Friday night or the Saturday morning session at the latest.  If your swimmer is not swimming until Saturday afternoon,  Roger or myself will make sure to stop by the pool each day this week and we can pick them up.  Again, thank you for your generosity!

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to volunteer at the meet so far!  We still have a large number of holes that we need to fill so if you have not yet signed up, please do so as soon as possible and if you have already signed up and you can spare a little more time, please consider adding yourself to an additional shift or two.  I wanted to highlight a few of the jobs that we are most in need of filling here:

Marshalling:  Super easy, but really important safety job that provides you a great view of the pool when your kids swim!  We cannot start warm-ups for each session until we have four people (3 plus our head marshall, Damon) in position around the pool and we are desperately in need to folks on Friday night!  Please consider signing up even if you cannot stay the whole evening (we can go down to 2 people once the meet begins). 

Runner: This job entails hanging up the heat and lane assignments and results throughout the session and assisting the admin table with delivering other items around the pool deck so wear comfy shoes, but it is an easy way to get your steps in!  We are really in need of folks for this important role on Friday night!

Snack Bar:  Again, Friday night, we need some folks who can help get everything set up and work during that session.  There are other times available as well…again, another super easy job and you can sneak away to watch your kids swim their races when it is their time!

Check-In:  We still have a few spots during the busy check-in time (the few hours before each session begins while the kids are warming up, especially on Sunday morning when we have swimmers of all ages swimming in one session!)  As long as the weather holds, we will be doing check-in outside in front of the pool so make sure to bring a coat!

Obviously, these are not all the jobs we need to fill, but they are some we are really in need of!  If your child is swimming on Friday night, we really need help since we have a smaller group of parents and we will still be getting some things set up.
