PSW Invitational Review

The PSW Invitational was the first time this year for our swimmers to get off the blocks. We had 17 swimmers participate in this training meet where the goal was to focus on racing skills and strategies rather than final times. The swimmers were asked to do proper warmups and cool downs throughout the meet, adding a lot of meters to support their race schedule.

Overall, the team did a great job of focusing on their racing technique. We have been really working on push-offs and dolphin kicks to start the season and many of our swimmers pushed their limits underwater and worked their legs off of the walls. We had a lot of solid swimming that will set up our team for more success at the Langley Meet in November, our Hollyburn Meet in December and our performance meets in December.

Just a few highlights from the meet. Josh really broke through with strong swimming throughout all of his events, which resulted in a lot of best times and new SwimBC Provincial Championships time standards! Lucas, Olivia and Quincy were the swimmers who used their underwater dolphin kicks the most consistently throughout the meet! Jessica and Josh were also longer off the walls than they have been in the past. Tiger’s strong training showed with drops in all but one of his events, including breaking three minutes in his 200m Freestyle! Keala started the year off with a best time under 30 seconds in the 50m Freestyle! This is the first year that Claire, Alessandra, Addison and Zach have all started the season racing at LMR meets and they did a great job racing!
