2018 10 & Under Turkey Trot Recap
What a great Turkey Trot meet the 10 & unders had this weekend at the Dynamo Swim Center in Chamblee. The three coaches representing the 40 enthusiastic Stingrays swimmers were Coaches Tonya, Mattison, and Emma. What a great way to start off the meet, with one of our Age-Group boys receiving first place in the first event of the day (100 FR), with a time set forth as a goal! Hard work and dedication were undoubtedly demonstrated at this meet. Not only for those swimmers who reached goals, but every one of our swimmers. They all showed determination and exhibited a love of this sport. Many high fives and hand shakes were given at the end of races displaying great sportsmanship and team work!
For some of our swimmers, this was their first meet – delivering them with an experience that they will remember and putting into performance everything that was learned in practice. Remembering to breathe on the side and keep their noses down while swimming; two-hand touches on the wall in breast stroke and butterfly; and tight streamlines off the wall. We also had many swimmers make personal best times; some dropping as much as 12 seconds in one event. Go RAYS! This meet wasn’t about going fast and dropping time, though. It was about gaining friendships, being a part of the team, and having fun. To see the swimmers cheering on their teammates and telling them “GREAT JOB!” — that is an impression that the coaches and parents will remember.
Many thanks go out to the parents, officials, volunteers, coaches and Dynamo staff for hosting us for this fun meet. We are proud of how well the swimmers did that day. Even though there were many changes to the relay teams throughout the course of the meet, the swimmers were extremely adaptable and highly energetic to be a part of them. Cheers, hoots, and hollers were a great way to end the day, rooting for the RAYS! We are proud to have such a great group of swimmers displaying the core values of the Stingrays Team: Honesty, Respect, Discipline, Dedication, and Loyalty. All of which were exhibited during this meet. Great job swimmers! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
