Fastswim Review
We had a great showing at the Richmond Fastswim Meet this past weekend! 11 swimmers took part with everyone having some great races throughout the meet!

Congratulations to Keala and Emily who both raced to their first SwimBC Provincial Championships time standard in the 50m Freestyle on Sunday! The time to beat was 29.59 with both girls racing in finals. Keala posted a time of 29.25 and Emily was just behind with a 29.42 after breaking 30 seconds for the first time in the heats. Great swimming that resulted in both girls reaching one of their main goals for this season! Keala and Emily were both very good at improving their times in finals each night and had great sprinting throughout the meet.

Lucas had another impressive swim meet with big drops in his 100m Backstroke, 200m Freestyle, 200m Backstroke, 50m Butterfly and 100m Freestyle! Lucas has really worked to improve his dolphin kicks and stroke length in practice and the hard work has really paid off with really impressive swimming throughout the weekend.

Natalie was performing really well in her first two days before getting under the weather to finish the meet. Natalie raced to two new SwimBC Provincial Championships times in the 200m Individual Medley and the 200m Backstroke! She also had big drops in the 100m Backstroke and 50m Freestyle!

Cami had a great 50m Backstroke, racing to her best time and a bronze medal in the finals! Meghan had big drops in her 400m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke!

After racing in the Pointe-Claire meet the previous weekend, Quincy, Morgan, Josh, Olivia and Jessica all looked great getting off the blocks again less than a week later. Olivia swam so well in her 200m Butterfly, 100m Backstroke, 50m Backstroke and 200m Freestyle with big improvements in all four of those events. Olivia was especially great in her 200m Freestyle to finish the meet, perfectly executing her race plan to win her heat and drop three seconds off of her best time! Quincy was very fast in her top sprint events, smashing her best time in 50m Butterfly by 1.5 seconds for a new SwimBC Senior Open time, breaking 58 for the first time in 100m Freestyle and lowering her 50m Freestyle time to 26.64! Jessica had a fantastic morning swim in the 100m Breaststroke to lower her time to 1:13.80 and put together a great 200m Individual Medley to finally break 2:30 in the event! Morgan raced to her best time in the 50m Butterfly! Josh had an incredible 50m Backstroke, dropping  over a second in finals to finish first overall!

We had really strong racing throughout a busy December and now the swimmers are ready to get back to the basics in training and enjoy some time off before we start building up again in January!
