VJO FINISHES 4th AT ZONE
3 CHAMPS!
Great job to all of our VJO swimmers that competed last
weekend in the 2019 Winter Zone 3 Championships Meet. There were
over 20 teams attending and Vallejo Aquatic Club finished
4th overall. Great Job VJO! We couldn’t have done
it without so many of you attending. We had many VJO swimmers
attending the meet for the first time this year. It was great to
see so many new faces.
Our swimmers had a blast with the trials/finals format
meet. Finals were super exciting this year; especially
when we got to start it off with a Swim-Off in the girls 50 free
between two VJO swimmers. This really got our team and all the
other swimmers pumped up before finals. Thank you to those two
ladies (Mackenzie Kawashiri and Anna Frances Reyes) for starting
finals off with some serious energy. We know it took courage to do
that swim off and we thank you for it. Great job!
Congratulations to 10 year old Raffy Cueva for winning the
9-10 Boys High Point Award at Zone 3 Champs. Great job Raffy!
Thank you Parents! We want to give a special
thank you to all our parents that helped out and volunteer at the
Zone 3 Champs Meet. Our team responsibility was three timing
chairs, 2 Colorado operators and 2 officials, but our team went
above and beyond and filled many more volunteer holes during the
meet. Thank you Officials; Phil Grant, Candance
Van Dewark, Horace James, Marly Luna and Kia Kalama. Thank
you Colorado Opperators; Ricky Cueva, Dan Greer,
Barbra Jellison. Thank you Mashals; Tamara
Kawashiri, Dom Matteo, Jen Pettit, Reyes family, Luna family,
Putong family, Maria Bui and Maila Singh. Thank you
Computer Room Opperator, David
McQuilling. Thank you Head Timer,
Joe Sapida. Thank you Goodie Bag
Creators, Tamara Kawashiri and Gigi Sapida. Thank
you parents that cooked for our families at the meet,
Miriam Rivera and Tricia Grant (fabulous soup and
chili). And finally thank you to all of our parents
that helped time. Our team is so lucky to have such a
wonderful groups of VJO parents. We couldn't have made the
meet happen without all your help. Thank you parents!

VJO HELPS FEED THE HUNGRY AND HOMELESS
Sunday, February
10th
4-6:30pm
WE ARE DOING IT
AGAIN! VJO will be helping to feed the
hungry and homeless again on February 10th. If you missed helping
this month don't worry you can get involved next month. Our
swimmers and parents have been having a great time
getting involved with our community and helping out. It
is so amazing to see our young swimmers helping out people in
need.
Click on the link below to sign
up. On Sunday, February 10th from
4-6:30pm come help VJO give back to the community. We
need 15-20 VJO swimmers to help out with the "Sparrow Project"
and feeding the hungry
and homeless. This will take
place at the 1st Baptist Church in Vallejo. Our swimmers will help
set up, help serve food, and help clean up. This is
a great way for our swimmers to get involved in their community.
Swimmers can also count this toward their community service
requirements for school. Swimmers under the age of 11 need to
have a parent helping them. If you wish to leave while your
child is volunteering, please make sure to leave your child with
another parent. This is NOT a VJO practice and children are
NOT under the supervision of VJO coaches. Thank you!
Date: January 13th 2019
