April 4, 2019
Tomorrow starts the GTSA TYR Spring Championship Meet. We will be bringing eighty (80) swimmers to the meet. The entire staff is excited for a great weekend of swimming. More information regarding the meet is below, but first, I want to address a couple of other issues.
No Practice Friday, Saturday or Monday.
We will not offer practices on the above days. We originally were going to have a program break the week following the meet, but we have decided to offer a limited practice schedule for those looking to maintain their seasonal gains (see below). That said, take some time to sharpen the saw. Perhaps swim two or three days next week. The following week we will slowly ramp up our efforts in the water and begin serious training the week after that. Here is the modified schedule for the week of 7th - 10th (Tuesday - Friday, No Saturday Practice)
Novice & Blue - No Monday. Everything else stays the same.
Swim Fit - 4:00 - 5:30pm In Water
Senior I & II - 4:00-5:30pm In Water,
Bronze - 5:30 - 6:30pm In Water
Silver & Gold - 5:30 - 7:00pm In Water
We will have some exciting changes next season. Chief among those changes are the addition of two (2) new additions to the staff. Mark Corley, owner and former head coach of Loggerhead in Jacksonville, will begin next week. Coach Mark is an American Swim Coaches Association certified Level Five (the highest) coach. Mark has the knowledge, experience and skills to make our swimmers’ experience amazing. We are also bringing in Miranda Briggs to help expand our learn to swim and novice programs. Miranda has owned her own successful swim school in Savannah and has a wealth of experience vesseling young children from swim lessons to other competitive aquatic sports. Miranda will begin her tenure here at the end of this month.
We are all very excited about these new additions. Our goal is to always have the best people on deck working with your children. After multiple nationwide searches, we have found the right people to have the honor of working with your children. I am sure that you will all help welcome them into the fold and the community.

Please remember to print out the heat sheet prior to arriving.

Saturday & Sunday - Athletes should be behind the blocks, ready to swim at 7:25am. We have been assigned lanes 11, 10 & 9 on the locker side (west end) for these days.
I assume everyone is coming. This meet has a unique Friday scratch deadline. We must scratch by noon tomorrow. If you know you can not make it for the 400 IM or 500 Free, text me by 11:00am tomorrow at (813) 846-8352. I just noticed this little tidbit. Honestly, I have never seen this option used in all the meets I have attended in the past. Thanks for your help here.
10 & Under Session Moved To The Morning
There will not be an afternoon session at this meet. ALL SWIMMERS swim prelims in the morning. The ten & Under events are timed finals. The eleven and older swimmers are prelims and finals.
This is a teamwide season ending meet. Yes, we have had some athletes focus on other meets in the past few weeks, but at this meet, we get to compete as a team. Since they moved the ten and unders to the morning session, everyone swims together, which is so much fun. I know when I was little I admired my older teammates; many of whom I used as role models. I am looking forward to a lot of inter-group and age integration. Let’s get loud, have fun and swim fast.
The swimmers have looked good all week. We are expectation great technical improvements, great starts, turns & finishes as well as many finals swims and personal bests. More importantly, we are looking to look, act and behave as a team. With that in mind, sport your Blue Wave bling, both on deck and in the stands.
I know we have some of our tent angels bringing tents for the stands. I have a tent for the swimmers. If anyone else has a tent that they would like to bring, it would be a welcome addition. The weather should be good...fingers crossed.
OK, that just about covers it. Get some rest and expect success.
See you at the pool - Rich
