Next week our summer swim season starts. Below is the link to a newsletter I sent earlier this year with the Bios of our new coaches and board members.
Don’t forget: everything you read here is also on the news tab at www.newmarkswimteam.com. If you missed last week’s news, go check it out! Have you texted 81010 and in the body put @newmarkswi (yes, no m on the end)? It will be the quickest way to get news this summer. And with all this rain, I would expect a few rainout practices at the beginning.
I am going to be sending emails out this week with tips for the summer swim season. One question I got this week: “How do swimmers dress for dryland”? Great question! Come like you would dress for gym class (PE) at school. Always have your tennis shoes! Its best practice any day to have dryland stuff in your back pack if something happens with the pool.
Swim practice essentials: SWIM SUIT, GOGGLES, TOWEL, WATER BOTTLE (a bag to put this all in and a swim cap are definitely a plus). WATER BOTTLE. Really really important. It’s a vital necessity each day. (Not a bad idea to have a couple extra floating around in your bag…just speaking from experienceJ).
Parents are not allowed on the pool deck during practices: And I get that this is hard when you have littles (been there done that)! We love having parents there watching! You will need to set up a chair outside the fence. During Rookie Relays and our banquet parents and families are allowed inside.
Swim meet essentials: SHARPIE, HIGHLIGHTER, $1.00 FOR THE HEAT SHEET, TOWELS, GOGGLES, SUNSCREEN, BUG SPRAY, LAWN CHAIRS. SNACKS OR CONCESSIONS and WATER WATER WATER.
Sharpie: For your swimmer to write events on their arm or leg (if they want to, most do).
Highlighter: For you to highlight your swimmer’s events in the heat sheet.
We have an amazing concession stand with great food and drinks. I always make my kids food but they always end up eating at concessions. We will also have a Lilo’s Snow Cones which are a big hit!
Stay tuned tomorrow for what to do if you are going to miss practice or a meet, disqualifications, volunteer jobs etc.
With Much Gratitude,
