DCST Stings the Rays
DCST Stings the Rays
On Tuesday, June 15, DCST went on the road to defeat the Rock River Valley YMCA Stingrays (Rockford) by a score of 350 – 335. DCST is now 2 – 0 on the summer season in dual meets. Despite the victory, DCST did not have a very good performance. As a team, DCST only had 52 career best times out of a total of 152 swims for a 34% improvement rate.
However, the following 17 swimmers did have a great meet with at least two career best times: Ava Bickner, Phillip Cutsinger, Grace Flemming, Michael Lorr, Joseph Lorr, Matthew Marchewka, Caitlynn Moon, Collin Moon, Lucy Prais – Lewis, Hannah Regan, Riley Regan, Sarah Robertson, Garret Sims, Grace Waller, Kayla Wester, Athena Ye, and Danielle Zographos.
After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Kayla Wester, age 9, and Collin Moon, age 11, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.
