TEAM BUILDING AND THE OTTER WARS

Greetings from the Glenwood newsroom.

The B meet Wednesday was a big success by all measures.

We survived the battle of the Angry Lumberjacks and Mad Zebras, thanks to Coach Jeremy’s superior mediation skills.  After much braying and tearing of flannel, an agreement was reached that promotes more responsible logging practices and better management of animal aggression.  The world is a better place for it.

How about those Pre-team Tiger Cubs?  We enjoyed some great racing by our very youngest swimmers, many of whom were appearing for the first time in a big meet.  Congrats to them and all the pre-team coaches on a fantastic job!

Congrats are also due to our wonderful parents.  You turned out in large numbers to help run this meet, feed the crowds, and cheer for the Tigers.  We thank you.

PEP RALLY

The theme for this evening’s pep rally is “Spirit Challenge.”  Think of it as a series of team-building exercises. Swimmers will be assigned to random groups to tackle challenges that Coach Kelly promises will require all their “intelligence, persistence, teamwork, and spirit.”  Let the games begin at 6:30 p.m. today!

GLENWOOD @ QUINCE ORCHARD

Tomorrow, we face the Quince Orchard Otters.

Otters.  So.  Darn.  Adorable.  Those cute, fuzzy little faces and those sweet little paws paddling the water!  If this is the image that comes to mind in this moment, we need you to cut it out right now!  The Otters of which we speak are fierce in the water and hold first place in Division D.  Glenwood’s gotta bring it!

We meet at Glenwood at 7:20 a.m. to caravan to Quince Orchard as a team.  All the rest of the information you need, from location and parking to warm-up time and concessions can be found here.

We hope to leave Quince Orchard victorious, but whatever the outcome, we absolutely must leave it in the same condition that we found it.  We’re betting the Otters love their pool as much as we love ours, so please remind your swimmers to throw away all trash and retrieve all belongings before they exit the team area at the end of the meet.

SAVE THE DATE

Looking ahead, we have another intrasquad B meet on Wednesday, July 3.  That’s followed by an A meet on July 6, when we host the swim team from Mohican and honor our graduating Tigers on SENIOR DAY.  Watch your email for more information on these events.

JULY 4TH PARTY AT GLENWOOD

On the hunt for a fun way to beat the heat on July 4th?  Look no further than the Big G!  Come to the pool for great food, kid-parent relay races, belly flop contests, and the company of all your friends and neighbors. The Glenwood Grill will offer burgers, hot dogs, and other summer eats for sale.

To ensure that all members enjoy this special holiday, the management asks that you please observe the following:

  • The pool grounds open at 10 a.m. Tables and chairs are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Non-member guests will be admitted ONLY if accompanied by a member who has purchased guest passes for them. The pool management reserves the right to refuse guests if the grounds and pool become too crowded.
  • Shade tents are welcome, but please do not “reserve” huge numbers of chairs and/or tables for members of your group who may come and go during the day. Get the chairs you need for the folks who help you set up, and encourage your later arrivals to bring camp/folding chairs.
  • As usual, no glass containers of any kind are permitted on the pool grounds.

DIVE-IN MOVIE NIGHT

Starting at sundown on July 6, Glenwood’s movie mavens will show a prequel to EITHER  Secret Life of Pets (2) or  Toy Story 4.  The snack bar crew is on board to grill hot dogs for $1 each and sell box candy.  Bring your favorite floatie and enjoy!

That’s all the news for now, Glenwood. Swim fast, Tigers!
