Greetings from the Glenwood newsroom.  It’s a big weekend for the Tigers with lip syncing and racing and dancing and sleeping outdoors and so much more!

Searching for the next big thing?  That girl or boy band that will really drive the kids wild?  Look no further than Glenwood!

Starting at 6:30 p.m., our Tigers have 60 seconds or less to deliver a knock-out pop performance to wow the crowds.  We’ve seen some promising rehearsals going on down at the pool this week.  Don’t miss this one, parents!

The No. 2 team in Division D—yep, that’s us—hits the road bright and early tomorrow morning and heads to Darnestown to compete against the Demons in our last dual meet of the 2019 season.  This may sound daunting, perhaps even dangerous given the team’s moniker, but fear not.  Glenwood’s Tigers are always fierce!

Swimmers can meet at Glenwood at 7:20 a.m. to decorate cars and join the green caravan.  Or you can meet the team at Darnestown at 8 a.m.  Glenwood warmups are at 8:25 a.m.

The address is 15004 Spring Meadows Drive, which is right about here.  There is parking in the main lot as well as on the grassy areas, and our hosts will provide attendants to help direct us. As a last resort, you can always park along the street.

Darnestown will provide concessions with plenty of breakfast options.

Let’s be great guests tomorrow.  Please remind your swimmers to help pick up all trash and recycling in our team area at the end of the meet and be courteous as Darnestown honors its nine graduating Seniors.

We pack so much fun into this one night, you don’t want to miss it!

First, from 6-10 p.m., please join us for the Glenwood Family Dance & Ice Cream Social, followed by the teen overnight.

For those new to Glenwood, here's a quick primer:

  • Starting at 6 p.m., the swim team hosts a dance for all Glenwood members.  For $3, you can make your own ice cream sundae and then work off those calories on the dance floor.  We provide the DJ and you provide the groove!  Big fun for the whole family!
  • The dance ends promptly at 10 p.m. and we ask all patrons to exit the pool in a timely fashion so we can begin check-in for the teen overnight.  All swim and dive team members who are 13 years or older are invited to spend the night at the pool and participate in the Swim for Tim fundraiser.  Parents, please carefully review the requirements detailed on the Swim for Tim site here.  You can find the links to the donation page and permission slip at the bottom of the page.

Please consider lending a hand Saturday and Sunday.  We need parent chaperones, lap counters, and others to help make these events successful.  Sign up to help here.

Was it just two summers ago that our Tigers slayed at the big season-ending meet to become the champions of Division D?  Can we do it again?  We’ll find out next Saturday!

In the meantime, declare your swimmers either available or not for the champs meet here.  The sooner the better, because our coaches will set the lineup after the final dual meet tomorrow and send it out this weekend.

That’s all the news for now.  Swim fast, Tigers!
