Angelo recorded three best times and finished 4th in the 10-under 100 free. Marni swam two best times and was first alternate in two events. Congratulations!

Sierra Summer Swim League Novice Meet
RENO had 14 swimmers participate in the SSSL Novice Meet Championships in Carson City. The meet was a blast and the kids had fun. Several RENO swimmers participated in their first meet, and they left with a smile. Way to go!
Last Meets of the Summer
RENO will conclude the summer with four meets in the next two weeks.
RENO has nineteen swimmers qualified for the Senior Western Zone Championships in Clovis, CA. Sixteen of these swimmers will be attending the meet. Competition starts Tuesday and concludes on Saturday. Be sure to follow the RENO Instagram page for all the highlights.
The High Country Championships in Minden will take place Friday through Sunday. There will be thirty RENO swimmers competing! I will send an email with all the information regarding the meet once I receive it.

Team Break and Practice Schedule
Reno Aquatic Club’s annual team break is set for August 5 – 18. Practices will resume August 19. The fall practice schedule is set. I will be emailing the schedules to each group this week. The first week back, we may have a modified schedule because Idlewild will still be open. I will keep you posted.
Coach Vanessa’s Last Week
This week will be Coach Vanessa’s last week with the team. She will be heading to Tennessee for college in mid-August. Vanessa has been an outstanding asset for the team. She has really grown and developed as a coach during her 10-months with RENO and connected very well with her swimmers. I hope she is able to continues to coach while she’s in Tennessee.
Best of luck, Vanessa! We will miss you!
As we head into championship season, our swimmers may have extra pressure on them to have outstanding performances. This pressure may be caused by external and/or internal forces. Feeling pressure is not necessarily a negative; it can be a positive and lead to amazing swims. But when the pressure becomes too much it can be crippling. If your child feels too much pressure, they won’t be able to perform to his/her potential.
If your child is placing too much pressure on him/her, remind them to have fun! Whenever we go to an important meet, I always remind our senior-level swimmers that having fun leads to fast swimming.
If you are placing too much pressure on your child, I want to remind you that one swim meet or race is not going to make or break your child’s swimming career. It’s a long journey filled with ups and downs.
I am looking forward to a fun championship season!
Each week, I will post the “Parent Education” section on the website. Click here to read the archived articles.
