Weekly Update

September 16

Special Fitting for A3 black suits:  Suits will be available this WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 at 5:30 at Arne Hanna.  Unfortunately, they have limited boys’ sizes to try on but all sizes in girls.  The team suit is a plain black, and if your child has already purchase one they are not required to buy an A3 suit.

NEW PARENTS TO THE TEAM:  We understand it can be overwhelming when you first join a team.  You are “drowning” in e-mails. sign-ups, and requirements sometimes you are unsure what to do.  Your life preserver is on the way. Coach Rhonda organized a new parent meeting which will be held Tuesday, September 17 at 5:15 in the bleachers of Arne Hanna.  It will last an hour and counts as an hour worth of volunteer time.

Bellingham Bay Marathon:  There are some more jobs to be filled.  Please make sure you sign up. Also 13 and over swimmers need to sign up also.

Senior B:   Coach Patsy would like to offer a goal setting session to assist the swimmers to come up with a plan to achieve their goals for this season.  She is coaching the group Tuesday and Thursday morning and this can enable her during those practices to reinforce and encourage them to “swim” towards their goals.  She is planning on doing it this Saturday after practice in the Arne Hanna lifeguard room.

Gold and Platinum : The retreat went very well. Patsy will be meeting with each child individually to discuss their plans.  She will communicate with your child when she wants to meet with them. It will be either before or after practice.

OCTOBER CHALLENGE MEET:  Can you believe our first home meet is just around the corner?  More information to come…

Congratulations  to Gavin Jones for Scholastic All-Amercian.  Below is the requirement for this honor, and it is a great accomplishment.  Who will be next? Stay tuned... to the Bellingham Bay Swim Team. Great things are happening in and out of the pool for this team.

  • Grade completion requirement – applicant must have completed 9 th , 10 th 11 th or 12 th grade

  • GPA Requirement – minimum 3.5 GPA for the current academic year

    • A=4, B=3, C=2. If numerical grades are used, the following scale will be used unless the school’s letter grade conversion is given on the transcript: A=90-100; B=80-89; C=70-79. In calculating the GPA no rounding will be used – one decimal place only.

    • There will be no special status designation for a 4.0 GPA other than for a national champion who also has a 4.0 GPA.

  • Pool Requirements

    • Applicants must have swum an individual pool time equal to a 2018 Winter Junior qualifying time in any individual event during the SAA qualifying period (August 16, 2018 – August 15, 2019 ) with qualifying times in SWIMS – list of times are posted on the USA Swimming website.
