RENO King of the Hill Information

The coaching staff is very excited for this weekend’s King of the Hill swim meet! As a reminder for those swimmers not competing this weekend... there is NO practice on Friday or Saturday.

This meet is a great opportunity for our swimmers to race and it serves as a last chance qualifier for the Nevada State Championships.

The meet has the “King of the Hill” component. This is a tournament-style competition for ages 13-up in the 50 freestyle. All swimmers, 13-and-older, who are entered in the 50 freestyle will race the event on Saturday morning. The top-64 swimmers advance to the next round and swim it again later that morning. The field then whittles down to the top 32, 16, 8, 4, and finally the top-2 boys and girls. The final 2 will race each other on Sunday and the winner will be crowned the King/Queen of the Hill. It’s definitely an exciting and unique event within the meet.

Also, new to the meet this year is a team points category. Each swimmer has the opportunity to score points for RENO. Let’s win the meet!

This meet is hosted by Reno Aquatic Club. RENO always hosts outstanding swim meets, but it does require a lot of work. Our Meet Director, Teri Galvin, has sent a couple emails this week requesting more assistance from our families. As a coaching staff, we ask you to please volunteer and assist as much as possible this weekend. Meets would not happen without parent volunteers. We greatly appreciate your help this weekend!
