DCST Exterminates the River Rats
DCST Exterminates the River Rats

On Tuesday, June 22, DCST went to 3 – 0 on the summer season with a 438 – 274 victory over the visiting Geneva River Rats. As a team, DCST swam a little better than they did a week prior at Rockford. For the meet, DCST had 92 career best times out of a total of 227 swims for a 41% improvement rate.
The following 32 swimmers did have a great meet with at least two career best times: Ty Ament, Dillon Anderson, Adriana Aumann Weyenberg, Tyler Berger, Drake Burger, Sadie Burton, Phillip Cutsinger, Mikaila DiCostanzo, Nolan Fergus, Kei Ishimaru, Megan Kish, Toni LeBlanc, Cokie LeBlanc, Mel LeBlanc, Sam LeBlanc, Jonathan Liu, Olivia Lohse, Michael Lorr, Joseph Lorr, Caroline Mackey, Spencer Mackey, Kyle Miller, Cole Moon, Josh Page, Sarah Robertson, Drew Seneczko, Garret Sims, Grace Stiberth, Amal Tatum, Grace Waller, Mackenzie Whitmer, and Athena Ye.
After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Mackenzie Whitmer, age 13, and Garret Sims, age 8, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.
DCST’s next two dual meets, Tuesday, June 29 at Cary and Thursday, July 1 at McHenry, will be the two biggest challenges of the season.
