A Note from the Coach:

To complement proper training and technique, there are a few key elements that swimmers should be careful not to neglect: Nutrition, Hydration, and Rest

Here is a handout about Swimmer Nutrition and Hydration, distributed by Skippy Mattson, from the Sports Medicine Program of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Skippy is an amazing resource for Georgia swimmers, and was the physical therapist for the '96 US Olympic Swim team. Please take a moment to review the information, and try to identify areas where your swimmer's race week/day nutrition can improve.

At this point in the season, we are focusing on:

  • Increasing intensity
  • Technique, technique, technique
  • Maintaining good attendance habits and consistent training
  • Developing racing strategies through meet attendance
