Y Hub Fins had another great weekend of swimming at the Laurel Fall Invitational.
This past weekend, our team showed up and showed out with our largest contingent of swimmers to date...52 swimmers, ages 6-17, total!!!!
We placed 2nd overall as a team; but more importantly, our swimmers from both locations pulled together, supported each other, brought in a number of personal best times, high-point acknowledgements, qualifications for the state Short-Course meet in February, a nd ultimately saw the fruits of their labors at practice pay off.
Thank you to our team family members for showing up and stepping up! Thank you to the parents, and older siblings of our swimmers who sat behind the blocks and timed for our team. Timing for meets provides the best seat in the house, but few choose to volunteer, and those who do are invaluable to us. (*Parents: If your teen served as a timer this weekend, please know that both Coach Addy and I are happy to sign off for their community service hours*).
Thank you to the parents who made sure that their children were where they were supposed to be when they were supposed to be there, this past weekend.
You guys are ROCKSTARS and we are grateful for you! Trying to cover every base with so many competitors is a challenge for us coaches as we try to mentally, emotionally, and physically address the pre and post race needs of every swimmer while still keeping tabs on our swimmers who are in the water competing at the moment. Our team wouldn’t have been successful this weekend without your help! We coaches spin a multitude of plates, but you guys were quick to pick up the ones we unintentionally dropped as we sought to address the needs of all of our swimmers.
Most of all, thank you to our team members. You guys took what we teach you every day at practice and put it in to play. You guys gave every race your all, and we are proud of you!
Y Hub Fins swimmers and families, I am thankful for each and every one of you. It is my joy to be part of this growing swim family.
