NEW PRACTICE TIMES AT SOLANO COLLEGE
Started - Monday, February 24th 2020
As you all know by now, the Cunningham Pool is scheduled to be closed March -June 2020 for much needed repairs. Vallejo Aquatic Club will be practicing at the Solano College during this time.

Beginning Monday, February 24th through June 30th our swim team will be swimming at the Solano Community College Pool. The Solano Community College Pool is located at 4000 Suisun Valley Rd, Fairfield, CA 94534. Listed below are the practice times for all groups.

*Our team will be responsible for covering the pool after practice. This will involve pulling the tarps across the pool. From 7:30-7:45pm all groups (except Hammerheads 1) will be tarping the pool.

We understand that there are going to be some inconveniences and if there is anything we can do for your family during this time please let us know. Please keep in mind that this change is just temporary and the facility that we will be coming back to at the end of June, will not only look amazing, but will be state of the art.
 
 
 
 
 
 
LAST VJO PRACTICE AT CUNNINGHAM - STAURDAY FEB 22nd
This Saturday February 22nd will be our last practice at Cunningham Pool. We will have an all team practice on this day. After practice this Saturday we will have a small breakfast potluck to celebrate our last day at Cunningham. Please join us and bring a small breakfast item to share. Hot Chocolate will be provided.

PARKING AT SOLANO COLLEGE: 
A parking permit or daily meter ticket is required to park on Solano Community College grounds. It is your responsibility to make sure your vehicle has the required permit, clearly displayed, while parked on campus. Parking permits are required each semester and during the summer session whenever classes are in session between the hours of 7:00 AM & 10:00 PM. Permits are not required on weekends or recognized holidays.

You have TWO OPTIONS for purchasing PARKING PASSES:
1. $2 Daily Parking Permit - Around the perimeter of the campus, on the outside edge of each parking lot, are large parking permit pay stations. For $2 (cash only) you can purchase a permit good for the entire day. You must have two one dollar bills or two dollars in nickels, dimes and/or quarters.
2. Semester Parking Pass - You may purchase a “semester decal” which you place on the lower left, driver’s side of your windshield. This decal is good for the entire semester and costs $32. You can purchase this decal on-line using a credit or debit card at: https://www.credentialsops.com/CGI-BIN/gacgiord.pgm?ALUMPP001292. If you opt to purchase a semester decal on-line please be sure to have a printer available as you will have the option of printing a temporary permit to use while you wait for the decal to arrive in the mail.

Important information regarding parking at Solano Community College:
1. There are several visitor’s parking spaces available in lots 1 & 4 where you can park for 30 minutes without charge.
This option can be used once in a 4-hour period and is strictly enforced.
2. There is never to be any parking or “waiting” in a red curbed area.
3. There is no “Inner Campus” parking allowed. Please stay in marked student parking lots.

TODAY IS SHARK PRIDE DAY  
Thursday, February 20th 
5:00-6:30pm (All Groups)
Today is Shark Pride Day!  All groups will be swimming together from 5:00-6:30pm. Everyone will be warming up together working on skills together and doing relays together.  Show off your Shark spirit! Wear your turquoise team shirt to school, around town and to practice on this day. We want to encourage team unity by having the entire swim team practice together.  This will be a team building day with a great opportunity to get to know swimmers in other groups.

TODAY IS LAST HOT CHOCOLATE NIGHT!
Today Thursday, February 20th is our LAST Hot Chocolate Night!  Unfortunately we will have to end Hot Chocolate Night early this year.  This change is due to our facility move to Solano College. Unfortunately, we do not have the storage at Solano College to keep all our HCN supplies up there.  Please make sure to bring in snack item to make this LAST HCN GREAT! Please drop off snack items on the table next to the Shark Tank. Thank you everyone for all the snack donations.

VJO SPAGHETTI FEED - SUN MARCH 29th
Join us for our Annual VJO Spaghetti Feed, Bingo Game and Dessert Contest on Sunday, March 29th from 2-5pm at the ACHS Cafeteria.  Please invite your family and friends to join us for some good food and fun, while helping VJO raise some money in the process.  Make sure you RSVP online on our team website.

POLAR BEAR CLUB 
In an effort to encourage VJO swimmers to keep their attendance up during the Winter Months, we are bringing back the Polar Bear ClubThe Polar Bear Club will start December 1st and run through the end of February. The VJO coaching staff will track daily practice attendance and award participation based on swimmers attendance to practice and events. VJO will provide prizes for those meeting qualifying levels.
 
Although we encourage all team members to attend as many practices as possible, each practice group will have attendance prize requirements on a sliding scale to reflect the monthly expectations of each group.  Prizes will be given out to swimmers monthly. Prize levels are as follows:

The 2020 Spring Junior Olympic Championships (14 & Under) is OPEN for entries. The meet will be held on March 13-15 at the George Haines International Swim Center in Santa Clara. All swimmers must have achieved a Junior Olympic time standard to enter this meet.
LOCATION: George Haines International Swim Center, 2625 Patricia Drive, Santa Clara, CA 95051 
ENTRY DEADLINE: Wednesday, March 4th 2020 @ 11:59pm
TIME: Prelims will begin at 9:00 a.m. each day with warm-ups from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. each day. Finals will tentatively begin at 4:00 PM each day. Finals warm-ups will being 1 hour before the start of finals.

The HILLS Hurricane C/B/BB+ Meet on March 21-22 is NOW OPEN for ENTRIES online. This meet will be held at the Soda Aquatics Center at Campolindo High School.  Please enter ASAP! This meet will fill quickly and close early. This meet is estimated to fill by next weekend. Don’t miss this great racing opportunity. This meet is recommended for all VJO swimmers. This will be our team meet for the month of March. Go SHARKS!
TIME: Arrive at 7:15am. Warm-ups will start at 7:30am. Meet will start at 9:00am

Leopard & Mako Groups: Please enter at least 3 events a day (one challenging event, one favorite event and one to keep you well rounded). Do not enter 100’s or 200’s of stroke (fly, back and breast) without prior approval of your coach.
Junior Group: Please enter at least 3 events a day (one challenging event, one favorite event and one to keep you well rounded). Swimmers do have the option to enter 4 events per day if they are interested. Juniors your event of the meet is the 200 back. Make sure to enter this event.

The Westside Aquaducks Long Course C/B/A+ Meet on April 17-19th is NOW OPEN FOR ENTRIES. This will be our first long course meet of the season, so the meet will fill up fast. Please get signed up ASAP. This meet is recommended for all VJO swimmers. Hammerheads, please talk to Coach Daniel about what long course event to enter.
LOCATION: Petaluma Swim Center, 900 East Washington Street, Petaluma, CA 94952
TIME: Friday - Arrive at 3:30 for warm-ups. Meet starts at 5pm
           Saturday - Arrive at 7:15am. Warm-ups at 7:30am. Meet starts at 9am
           Sunday - Arrive at 7:15am. Warm-ups at 7:30am. Meet starts at 9am
Hammerheads 1 & 2: Please talk to your coach before entering this meet. Your coach will advise you as to which events your child is ready to swim. Please do not enter events that your child is not ready to swim. This is a long course meet, so events are 50m and 100 m long (there are no 25’s offered).
Leopard & Mako Groups: Please enter 3 events a day (one challenging event, one favorite event and one to keep you well rounded). Do not enter 100’s or 200’s of stroke (fly, back and breast) without prior approval of your coach.
