Immediate Swim Practice Changes

Dear VJO Membership:

Over the course of the last several days, let alone the last 24 hours, the coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed our daily lives in an unprecedented manner.  We have transferred into the new normal of  "social distancing" and "distant learning,"  I have been talking daily with our coaching staff to discuss the most up-to-date information and the associated effects on our membership.  In prioritizing the health and wellness of all our swimmers, the VJO Board and Coaching Staff, has decided that effective today, March 16th through March 31st, swim practice will be limited to Juniors, Junior 2, and Senior Groups.  This reduction will allow us to continue to comply with CDC's recommendations for gatherings.

The decision to reduce practice groups came only after considering local, state, and federal regulations.  We must also comply with the college restrictions.  In an abundance of caution, we will give our remaining swimmers a wide berth to exercise.

Moreover, during these uncertain economic times, it's important to keep our coaching staff employed.  For that reason we will continue their salaries.

We will continue daily to monitor local, state, and federal regulations and apprise the membership of any changes that affect our club.

As always, parents must take responsibility for deciding whether their children should participate in swim practice.

In the meantime, we wish everyone the best,

VJO Board and Coaching Staff
