Cary Barracudas take a Bite out of DCST
On Tuesday, June 29, a heavily outmanned DCST team went to Cary and lost for the first time this summer season by a score of 391 – 302. Cary had 145 swimmers entered in the meet compared to DCST’s 40. DCST is now 3 – 1 on the summer season. As a team, DCST only had 32 career best times out of a total of 107 swims for a 30% improvement rate.
The following 9 swimmers did have a great meet with at least two career best times: Erin Fidler, Sarah Hein, Cokie LeBlanc, Mel LeBlanc, Sam LeBlanc, Spencer Mackey, Kyle Miller, Jenna Runde and Athena Ye.
After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Erin Fidler, age 9, and Kyle Miller, age 14, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.
