WWRX Update 4/13/20

Dear WWRX Families,

When we wrote to you a few weeks ago, we were hopeful that the virus would be long gone by the time our season was to start on April 20.  Unfortunately, that won't be happening.  With schools and other non-essential businesses to remain closed until at least 5/20, we obviously will not be able to start our season after spring break as we normally do.
With that being said, we will need to cancel this season's Stroke Clinic.  The start of the USA Group's season is also delayed. We are continuing to monitor news from USA Swimming, CT Swim and our local league to work on the best way to handle this unprecedented situation.  At a team level, our Board of Directors and coaches have had several video conferences to discuss different possibilities for the swim season.  We are going to try our best to get in the water at some point.  We know our swimmers are missing the water, their friends, the coaches, and the competition.  We, as parents, are missing seeing them do what they love.  And the coaches are missing teaching your kids valuable lessons.
In the meantime, please check out our new Instagram account and encourage your swimmers to check it out as well.  We created that to hopefully engage them some more as we are apart. Look for WWRXSwim on IG. Coach Nicole is often posting dry land workouts there to keep our swimmers motivated and in shape while they wait for the pool to be open again.  Do them as a family if you'd like.  And encourage your swimmers to post about their workouts.  It will encourage others to get out there and get moving.
This isn't the news any of us wanted, but we know that it is what's best to keep everyone healthy and safe.  When we get back to the pool, it will be sweet indeed.
A big thank you to the many parents on our team who are working on the forefront of fighting this thing.  Thank you for your service to all of us.
Stay healthy and safe everyone!
The WWRX Board and Coaches
